Habitat Charity Golf Tournament is back at Imperial Club Golf Karawaci

After being delayed due to the pandemic, Habitat Indonesia again held the Habitat Charity Golf Tournament on December 15, 2021, at Imperial Club Golf Karawaci.


Habitat Charity Golf Tournament is a routine event held every 2 years since 2010, as a place for Indonesian golfers to compete while doing charity work, donating to support the provision of housing for underprivileged communities in various regions in Indonesia.


Susanto, National Director of Habitat for Humanity Indonesia said “The pandemic has taught us the importance of proper housing for families. The recommendation to "Stay at Home" must be equipped with a proper and healthy home as an initial step to protect families from the Covid-19 virus. Indonesia still needs 10 million decent houses and through the Habitat Charity Golf Tournament we are able to meet some of the needs for decent housing, especially for people who can't afford it, so as to create a healthy and strong Indonesia. Since the tournament was first held in 2010, until now, through the Habitat Charity Golf Tournament we have built more than 200 livable houses.”


The participants of the Habitat Charity Golf Tournament are given the option of donating, namely to support the construction of each new housing unit, they donate 50 million rupiah, and to support the renovation of each house unit, they donate 30 million rupiah.


This year, Bank HSBC Indonesia is the main sponsor of the Habitat Charity Golf Tournament 2021.

Indonesian Ambassador Teaches Ethiopian Students to Play Golf

Addis Ababa: After the Indonesia-Ethiopia Student Correspondence Program (IESCOP) held at the Indonesian Embassy in Addis Ababa on Saturday, June 26, teachers and 16 Native English Private School (NEPS) students in Addis Ababa flocked to Ambassador Al Busyra Basnur.


"Mr. Ambassador, can we be taught the technique of playing golf. We really want to know the golf equipment and how to hit the ball correctly," asked a student accompanied by his teacher, in a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Addis Ababa received by Medcom.id on Sunday, 27 June 2021.


Then, the Indonesian Ambassador to Ethiopia, Djibouti and the African Union invited the students to gather in the grass garden of the Indonesian Embassy.


It was there that Ambassador Al Busyra taught the junior high school students how to hit and play golf. They then practiced how to hit a golf ball which was not easy.


After being asked by the Indonesian Ambassador, it turned out that the Ethiopian students were interested in learning golf after they learned through local media reports that the Indonesian Embassy in Addis Ababa held a golf tournament on 22 May. The golf tournament was first organized by representatives of foreign countries in Addis Ababa.


Before training the student to play golf, Ambassador Al Busyra told about the progress of the sport of golf in Indonesia.

Last May, the Indonesian Embassy in Addis Ababa became the first friendly country embassy in Ethiopia to organize a golf tournament in that country. In Addis Ababa, there are more than 100 embassies of Ethiopia's friendly countries.


This was stated by Molalign Asfaw, Director General of Asian and Oceanian Affairs from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia when officially opening the Indonesia-Ethiopia Invitational and Friendship Golf Tournament 2021 which was held by the Indonesian Embassy in Addis Ababa on Saturday, May 22. The opening also marked Molalign's first hitting of a golf ball on the first hole.

Charity Golf Tournament UI kumpulkan dana abadi sebesar Rp500 juta

The Directorate of Graduate Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) of the University of Indonesia (UI) together with the UI Alumni Association (ILUNI) held the UI 71st Anniversary Golf Tournament which was held at the Bogor Raya Golf Club which managed to collect a donation of Rp. 500,000,000 for the UI Endowment Fund.

UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro in his statement, Tuesday, positively welcomed the initiative from DPKHA to raise the Endowment Fund to help education at UI through the golf tournament.

It is hoped that through this initiative, UI can continue to establish pentahelix synergy with the government, business partners, the alumni community and the media, so that it should be carried out regularly.

"This tournament is also expected to be a place to stay in touch as well as to further increase the sense of closeness and close kinship between the academic community and UI residents, including alumni."

The golf tournament was attended by UI Chancellor Prof. Ari Kuncoro, Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. rer. grout. Abdul Haris; Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Prof. Ainun Na'im, and Prof. Drs. H. Mohamad Nasir (Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education 2014-2019).

In addition, the Chairperson of the UI Board of Trustees, Saleh Husin, Chancellor of the National University, Dr. Drs. H. "This tournament is also expected to be a place to stay in touch as well as to further increase the sense of closeness and close kinship between the academic community and UI residents, including alumni," he said.

He added that in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, golf is a sport that has a relatively low level of risk compared to other types of sports.

Committee Chairman Badrul Munir said the committee said that this activity managed to collect donations of half a billion rupiah for the UI Endowment Fund.


This fund will be used to improve the quality of education and learning at UI, including to provide scholarships for outstanding students who have limited education funding, as well as support the activities of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
